Do you Grind Your Teeth? We can Help

Do you grind or clench your teeth?

1 in 3 people do and most people are not even aware they do it.  Some grind or clench only during the night, others during the day and for the unfortunate “Bruxer’s” it’s ongoing.  There are a number of reasons for bruxism, misaligned teeth, stress and some even say it’s nothing more than a habit.

The Result of Bruxism or Teeth Grinding

The result of bruxism or grinding can range from broken fillings or damaged teeth to worn enamel resulting in tooth sensitivity to headaches and in some cases jaw dysfunction, TMD (temporomandibular disorder).  Sometimes your teeth grinding can excel or exasperate an already sensitive situation.  If this is the case, you need to call for an immediate appointment to alleviate any pain and keep your situation from getting worse.

By way of a comprehensive oral exam and ongoing cleanings, our goal is early diagnosis and prevention of Bruxism.  There are a number of treatments for bruxism which are dependent on your personal situation.  Treatments can range from correct tooth alignment, reshaping your biting surfaces to a customized mouth guard to prevent further damage.  We will work with you to find the right solution.

If you believe you or someone you love is a “grinder” please call our office today, we can help.
